Sustainability and resource management has proven to be the hallmark of every developed nation. How best you can manage your resources notwithstanding how little it could be, to achieve a longer-term plan for sustainable developments.

Ilorin, is no doubt one of the earliest communities of the old Kwara, and over the years, it has developed into a sort of a large town, with many areas coming up and subsisting communities overcrowded.

The issue of water, which has been a recurring issue in the annals of Ilorin existence continues unabated. A State that boasts of three major dams couldn’t afford a single drop of tap of water in the very heart of the Ilorin town. Pathetic, to say the least. Despite the billions invested in water reticulation by the past administrations, little could be accounted for in terms of execution and its impacts on the town. Where’s the investment, today? Where are the billions?

The absence of water, which is by far the major need of an average human being for existence, procreation and for numerous other daily needs has really dealt a big blow to the Ilorin society.

The issue has we have it in the 80s continues uncheckmated. Despite having Sobi Dam, Agba Dam and also Asa Dam, all of which are critical sources of water generation, yet we are still lacking and lagging behind.

It’s now surprising, to see a private individual coming to the aid of almost all the communities in one way or the other, cushioning the effects of their multifaceted issues. Such as the water in question. Mallam Saliu Mustapha, through his philanthropic gesture, has secured yet another round of 17 motorized boreholes in the agrarian Asa communities. A suburb of Ilorin Emirate to the west. Work has long begun and very soon, netizens would soon be feeling the impacts of the water, that would serve hundreds of communities.

Recently, Agbaji, the homestead of the erstwhile Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki beckoned on the Senatorial Candidate of the APC, Mallam Saliu Mustapha to come to their aid on the issue of water. If a community like Agbaji, with the abundance of key members in Government at various times, could be begging for water, what then is the fate of Banni community or Mazankore that boast of no such clout?

Fortunately, the work has begun and eulogies continue to troops in from far and near on the gestures of Mallam Saliu Mustapha. Verily, he who brings water, brings life.
