Doing it differently: Kwara South SDP Senatorial candidate sponsors a comprehensive course on “How to Win Elections” at Nations Leadership Institute (NLI).

The foremost Kwara South SDP Senatorial candidate, Prof. Wale Sulaiman (PWS) has sponsored a three days political training workshop for fellow Social Democratic Party (SDP) Federal House of Representatives candidates, Kwara State House of Assembly candidates, and party LGA Chairmen from Kwara South.

Statistics have revealed that 70% of Nigerian politicians engage in politics without being adequately prepared for the task ahead. The majority of Nigerian political actors are oblivious of the campaign management and issues-driven manifesto development strategy. Hence, the reason for political wastefulness and poor representation when unluckily elected into office. The masses suffer from both scenarios.

Prof. Wale Sulaiman, in his bid to change the narrative of poor representation and ensure that the dividends of democratic governance get to the people of Kwara State and Kwara South through a knowledge-based representation, sponsored the Kwara South SDP legislative candidates and chairmen for a training workshop.

The Nations Leadership Institute (NLI) three days political training workshops themed: “HOW TO WIN ELECTION” is aimed at educating, sensitizing, and enlightening Politicians, Political party candidates, Youth and Women leaders, Campaign Director General, and the interested general public on the rudiments of practical politics, campaign management, development of manifesto and grassroots mobilization strategy.

The President of the NLI, a veteran politician, and an outstanding legal practitioner, Barr. Iyiola Akogun Oyedepo in an interview with the Press Men relates the vision of the institute;

According to him: “We have a mandate to mobilize credible people who may want to take up leadership in politics, economy, and governance. Politics is a field that requires continuous improvement of knowledge and skills. The Nations Leadership Institute affirms that elections today must be handled by skillful and knowledgeable people. We are trying to build up those that will take up positions in the executive and legislative arms to serve the interest of the people effectively and efficiently when they get to elected office.”

About 25 Participants enrolled for the maiden political workshop. Participants include reputed political elites, stakeholders, Kwara South Social Democratic Party (SDP) Federal House of Representatives candidates, State House of Assembly candidates, SDP LGA Chairmen, and academia from all walks of life. Participants were issued certificates of merit having completed the three-days training and acquired the knowledge and skills during the training.
