One feared dead as cult violence erupts in Ilorin
A young man identified as Sultan, popularly known as “Baba Dudu,” is feared dead following a suspected cult-related attack at Alagbado area in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9 p.m. on Monday in the Alagbado community, sending shockwaves through residents of the area.
According to information gathered by Kwara Eaglet NG, the deceased was raised around the Omoda area of Ode Alusa in Ilorin before his family later relocated to their permanent residence in the Ondoko area of Alagbado.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that Sultan was at his parents’ residence on Monday night when he received a phone call from an unidentified individual requesting that he come outside.
The source claimed that shortly after leaving the house, Sultan was trailed to a shop located behind a road leading to Fatimah Hospital, where he was allegedly attacked by suspected members of a rival cult group.
Residents said the victim was known as a calm and well-behaved young man during his early years. However, some sources alleged that his lifestyle changed after he gained admission into a College of Education in Ilorin, where he reportedly became associated with a cult group.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Kwara State Police Command were unsuccessful. As of the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) had neither responded to telephone calls nor replied to WhatsApp messages seeking comment on the incident.
