Olupako of Share: Royal family warns kingmakers against wrong choice

The Dada ruling house in Share, Ifelodun local council of Kwara state has alleged that Johnson Adeniran, a candidate for the seat of Olupako of Share, is not eligible to contest the throne.

The stool became vacant November last year following the death of the 10th Olupako, Alhaji Abubakar Garba (Dosunmu ll) from the Akinyode ruling family.

Recall that a ‘supposed Head’ of the family (Ile Oluloke), Alhaji Bolaji Azeez had said that Prince Adeniran Alabi Johnson is the only candidate of the Dada ruling house.

However, the family in a statement issued by its secretary, Abdullahi Ahmed Adebayo and made available to newsmen in the state, insisted that the claimant, Bolaji Abdulazeez who pronounced Johnson Adeniran as an eligible aspirant does not belong to the community and likewise his candidate (Johnson) does not belong to any of the ruling houses in the community thereby disqualifying his eligibility for the position.

The statement reads in part, “Alhaji Bolaji Azeez is not known to us as he is not a member of the Dada Ruling House. Neither himself nor Johnson Adeniran, mentioned in the publication as a candidate of Dada Ruling House, is a member of Dada Ruling House. Mr. Johnson Adeniran is a not a prince in Share because he is not related to any of the two Ruling House in Share. It is a cold fact that his father or forefather did not come from any of the Ruling Houses.

The family reiterated that Johnson is not a member of any of the eligible families, adding that they “cannot accept the imposition of an improper person as Olupako”.

They consequently called on the kingmakers and other concerned stakeholders to be “fair and just” in the selection process.
