A 42-year-old okada rider, Samuel Ukeyima on Wednesday, appeared before a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged breach of agreement.
Ukeyima, who resides Behind Alhaji Dash Street, Ankpa Ward, Makurdi, has been charged by the police with cheating and criminal breach of trust.
Insp. Jonah Uletu, the prosecutor, informed the court that one James Orshio, brought the matter to the awareness of at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Makurdi on October 14.
Uletu informed the court that the complainant purchase a motorcycle and handed it over to the defendant for commercial objectives on July 12, having an agreement that he’ll be remitting N7,000 every week.
“The defendant agreed to pay N7,000 weekly to the complainant.
“The complainant further stated that the defendant went missing since he collected the motorcycle,” he said.
The prosecutor revealed the defendant was apprehended, and during the investigation of the police, he admitted to committing the offence.
He said the offences were in contravention of sections 311 and 321 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.
When the matter was read to the defendant, he.pleaded not guilty.
Mrs Roseline Iyorshe, who’s the Chief Magistrate, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 plus a surety in like sum.
She has adjourned the matter to December 1, 2022 for further hearing.
