Ogun teacher allegedly rapes 13-year-old pupil

The Ogun State Police have arrested a teacher, Ayobami Oluwatobiloba Runsewe, 25, for allegedly raping his 13-year-old pupil (identity withheld).

The class teacher of nursery and primary school in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government area of the state was caught on Thursday, May 19.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi made this information available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Saturday.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was apprehended shortly after a complaint lodged at the Ago Iwoye Divisional Headquarters by the mother of the victim.

The police spokesman said that the mother of the victim informed the police that, the suspected class teacher lured her daughter to his house in the Ayegbami area of Ago Iwoye after lesson at about 4:30 pm and carried out the unlawful act.

He said the pants of the victim soaked in blood was presented in the station as evidence.

“Upon the report, the DPO of Ago Iwoye divisional headquarters, SP Noah Adekanye detailed his detectives to the scene, where the teacher was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect initially denied having anything with the victim, but when the victim confronted him, he was unable to say anything further”, the PPRO said.

He said that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole had directed that the case be immediately transferred to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for interrogation and possible prosecution.
