Offa Union questions timing of NDLEA’s claims against Senator Ashiru, calls for fair investigation

Urged Ashiru’s opponents to avoid smear campaigns

The Offa Descendants Union (ODU) has criticized the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for making what it calls unproven accusations against Senator Yisa Lola Ashiru.

In a statement on Wednesday, ODU’s National Public Relations Officer, Taofeek Olalekan Olaosebikan, expressed concerns that the NDLEA’s allegations seem weak and may have been brought up under questionable circumstances.

ODU said, “We expect the NDLEA to conduct its investigations with honesty and transparency, as the public trusts them to do.”

The union pointed out that the NDLEA’s accusations came right after Senator Ashiru criticized the agency during a Senate debate on a bill to establish the National Institute for Drug Awareness and Rehabilitation.

Ashiru had called the NDLEA “the most compromised agency.” ODU suggested that the timing of these claims could be a deliberate attempt to damage the senator’s reputation and stop him from participating in important legislative discussions.

The group stressed the importance of fair treatment, urging against hasty conclusions that could unfairly harm someone’s reputation without proper investigation.

ODU expressed concern that the NDLEA’s actions might be politically motivated rather than based on solid evidence.

They called for a careful and unbiased examination of the situation to ensure fairness for all parties involved. “Any accusations related to drug activities should be backed by real evidence, not just rumors or guesses,” ODU said.

The union also stated that Senator Ashiru is ready to face any panel, hearing, or trial, and is willing to share his side of the story.

ODU urged Ashiru’s opponents to avoid smear campaigns and approach the situation with fairness and reason.
