According to Air Commodore G.I. Jibia, Commander of the 303 Medium Airlift Group, Nigeria Air Force (NAF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is a crucial component of the country’s security.
Jibia made the remarks during a visit to the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Ilorin on Tuesday.
He stated that the NSCDC has been contributing to the country’s security well-being since its inception.
The Commander, who had recently begun duty, indicated that the purpose of the visit was to seek NSCDC cooperation, stating that no security organisation can thrive in isolation.
“As the Chief of Defence Staff just indicated, the country is bleeding in terms of security, and we are in a very difficult situation.”
“We feel that there is a need for all security services to work together, and that through this joint effort, we can achieve results,” he added.
Jibia went on to say that the NSCDC has played important roles in the country’s security throughout the years.
He stated that it had become critical to seek the corps’ combined effort in order to attain the defined goals and objectives.
The commander noted that the NAF’s 303 Medium Airlift Group was formed to meet the Nigeria Air Force’s medium airlifting needs.
He stated that it will help the military fulfil its own security duty across the country.
Mr Makinde Ayinla, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, said that it had become vital for security operatives to coordinate and work together.
The commandant remembered the NSCDC’s working relationship with the Nigeria Army from the Corps’ inception and informed the Air Force commander of the NSCDC’s preparedness to engage with the Air Force.
