Nowhere safe in Nigeria, Gani Adams writes UN, EU, Others

Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, has called on the United Nations and other global associations to urgently come to the rescue of the Nigerian people, saying “No part of Nigeria is safe again.”

The Yoruba warlord made this revelation via a letter forwarded to the Secretary General of UN, Mr António Guterres, and copies forwarded to the European Union, African Union, United States State Departments, the International Association for Religious Freedom in the United Kingdom, Council on Foreign Relations among others.

It was gathered that this would be the second letter that the Yoruba war general would be sending to the same organisations.

Adams in his letter entitled, “Avoiding a replica of the Bosnian War in Nigeria,” said that the insecurity in the country at present, if not addressed could consume the whole country.

He, while making reference to what happened in the defunct Yugoslavia which led to the division of that country, admitted that similar situation “Is becoming like a child’s play in Nigeria.”

The letter partly reads, “Pitiably, terrorists moving from northern Nigeria to the South are being embraced, encouraged and empowered by powers that be in Nigeria.

“I am raising this alarm now because the effect of this dangerous trend may ultimately balkanise Nigeria and affect sub-Sahara Africa.

“Similar alarm was raised in defunct Yugoslavia and sadly, nobody put in check the pogromists whose actions led to the massacre in that geographical location.”
