‘No pressure in Rabat’: Osimhen shrugs off Morocco crowd as Super Eagles eye AFCON final

Victor Osimhen has played down Morocco’s home advantage ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final clash, insisting the Super Eagles are unfazed by big crowds and focused solely on winning.

Nigeria will take on tournament hosts Morocco on Wednesday night (9 pm Nigerian time) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where close to 70,000 fans—largely backing the Atlas Lions—are expected.

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, Osimhen acknowledged the boost Morocco will draw from their supporters but stressed that many players in the Super Eagles camp are no strangers to intimidating atmospheres.

“There is no pressure in the camp,” the Napoli striker said. “We don’t even talk about the Morocco team; we just take one game at a time.”

Osimhen pointed to Nigeria’s recent victory over Algeria as evidence of the team’s readiness, noting that the performance reinforced the Super Eagles’ growing reputation as one of the most feared sides in the tournament.

“Morocco have a good squad, and playing at home is an advantage for them,” he admitted. “But many of us have played in stadiums with 80,000 or 90,000 fans. Personally, I feel no pressure.”

The 25-year-old added that the team’s focus remains internal, with full commitment promised on matchday. “It won’t be easy, but we’ll give everything and hope for the win. I believe we have a chance.”

Osimhen has already netted four goals at the tournament and sits among the leading scorers. He is also just two goals away from equalling the Super Eagles’ all-time AFCON scoring record held by the late Rashidi Yekini.
