‘Karma is visiting you’ – Gov Wike told to go beg former boss, Amaechi
Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has told the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to tender his apology to his predecessor and former principal, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
HURIWA said Wike should tender his apology to the former Minister of Transportation for what it called needless political war of vendetta to Amaechi, who made him key office holder whilst he (Amaechi) was the Governor of the state.
On September 14, 2015, Wike had vowed to implement the recommendations of the judicial commission of inquiry probing the sale of the State’s valued assets by the Amaechi administration.
Gov Matawalle approves death penalty for kidnappers, cultists, Informants, others
The governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has signed into law a death penalty on anybody found guilty of banditry, cattle rustling, cultism, or serving as a bandits’ informant.
He announced this in a broadcast to the people of the state on Tuesday morning.
The broadcast was preceded by an expanded security council meeting that lasted for more than eight hours.
The governor said, “On the 28th of June this year, I passed the bill on Prohibition and Punishment for Banditry, Cattle Rustling, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Incidental Offences, 2022.
ASUU meeting with FG end in deadlock, strike to continue

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has lamented that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is engaging in propaganda to discredit the ruling party ahead of the 2023 elections.
Adamu stated this Tuesday when a group of APC Professionals led by former Governor of Bauchi state, Isa Yuguda, visited him at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
Adamu decried that most of the programmes of the APC-led administration were not getting to the grassroots because the leadership at that level was driven by those who are not educated.
Policemen allegedly shoot motorcyclist, drive corpse away in Lagos
There was outrage on Tuesday evening as some yet-to-be-identified policemen reportedly shot a motorcyclist and drove away with the corpse.
The incident was said to have happened at Olayiwola street, social club junction, Abule egba, Lagos at around 6:30 pm.

Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act, 1993 (Amendment) Act, 2019, for increased revenue; Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) Amendment Acts of 2019 and 2021; Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Bill, 2022, which approves the seizure, confiscation and forfeiture of properties derived from unlawful activity.
Buhari has reduced Boko Haram to almost nothing – Festus Keyamo
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has reduced Boko Haram’s criminality to “almost nothing.”
The minister has claimed that the Buhari administration inherited the problem of Boko Haram, reaffirming that the terrorists have not been totally conquered.
The minister made this revelation on Monday during a television interview.
