The Ilorin Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has announced its readiness to collaborate with the Acting Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice A.A Adebara to consolidate on the existing progressive relationship between the Bar and the Bench.
This was revealed by the Chairman of the bar, Mr Kamaldeen Gambari Esq, during a courtesy visit to the acting CJ in his office, Tuesday.
In attendance during the meeting was Magistrate Ibijoke Olawoyin, the Chief Registrar of the state High Court of Justice.
The chairman revealed that he’s led a delegation to the CJ’s office in order to welcome, congratulate and wish him successful stay in office.
Gambari also announced the readiness of the bar to solidarize with the judiciary in order to actualize common goal of justice.
He appealed for the solidarity of the CJ in the areas of regularization of some deficiency in the judicial system which portends challenge to the effective and efficient running of the bar.
He enumerated a few challenges members of the public face especially while trying to get affidavits and the manner institutions of government do not entertain affidavits that do not originate from the State High Court, including those signed by Notaries Public.
He also commended the judiciary over the centralization of the oaths system which has rid the system of unauthorised agents.
He however pleaded that the system needs to be rendered much flexible than it is to save members of the public from unnecessary stress, on the ground of pursuing authentic documents.
The chairman revealed the observations of the bar, concerning the recently introduced Area Court and Magistrate rules and implored his host to assist in examining the observations.
In his reaction, the acting CJ commended the NBA for visiting him and gave assurance of his unalloyed support to the Bar.
“There is no Bar without Bench, and a Bench without a Bar is an empty shell”, he said.
He also announced his readiness to support every cause that’ll promote justice.
