New Kwara MULAN executives assume office, promises stronger welfare, unity
The newly elected executive members of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Kwara State chapter, have formally assumed office with a pledge to strengthen the association’s unity, welfare and professional development.
The new executives were inaugurated on Friday at the NBA House in Ilorin during the association’s 2026 Handing-Over Ceremony and Dinner, marking the beginning of a new two-year tenure.
The new executive council is headed by Haruna Geo Ibn Mahmud as chairman, with Taofeeq Olateju and Idiat Bukola Ameen serving as first and second vice chairmen respectively.
Other members of the executive are Ibrahim Abubakar Ahmad (Agbaje), Secretary; Yusuf M. Shehu, Assistant Secretary I; Odofin Ruqayyah, Assistant Secretary II; Saka Folorunsho AbdulKadir, Public Relations Officer I; and Abdullateef Titilayo Fatimoh, Public Relations Officer II.
Taiwo Azeez Hammed was sworn in as Financial Secretary, while Faridah Sholagberu became Assistant Financial Secretary and Azzezat Arikewuyo Ajumobi, Treasurer.
Others are Shukurah Adejoke Raji, Welfare Secretary; Sulyman Toyin Yahaya, Assistant Welfare Secretary; and Jamiu Nurriyah, Auditor.
The executive council also has three ex-officio members: Sarafa Akande Omotosho, Yakub Yinka Ajibade and Ibrahim Tosho Balogun.
Speaking after his inauguration, Ibn Mahmud described his emergence as chairman as a privilege and pledged to build on the achievements of previous administrations.
He identified the welfare of members as one of the priorities of his administration, assuring members that their interests would remain central to his leadership.
The new administration takes over from the outgoing executive led by Dr Taofeeq Abolaji Abdulraheem, whose tenure recorded several initiatives, including securing a plot of land for the association’s secretariat.
The immediate past administration also organised lectures and Quranic competitions and hosted the 2025 MULAN conference.
The ceremony also featured an award presentation to Alhaji Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, in recognition of his contributions to MULAN and the legal profession.
In his acceptance speech, Ajibade expressed appreciation for the recognition and pledged N5 million towards the construction of the Kwara MULAN secretariat.
Other personalities honoured at the event included the Kwara State Attorney-General, Ibrahim Sulyman; Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen; and J.A. Mumini, SAN, among others.
The ceremony brought together members of MULAN, legal practitioners and other dignitaries to mark the transition to a new administration and recognise contributions to the association and the legal profession.
