The newly inaugurated member of the Nigerian Parliament Honorable Abdulkareem Abdulkareem representing Kwara Central in company with his aides on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Directors of the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) and National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Dr. Olafemi Oladunni and Engr. Yomi M. Kasali in Ilorin respectively.
The parliamentarian, during his visit sought partnership with the two agrarian institutes to train 5,00 youths in Kwara Central Senatorial district of the state in the best modern agricultural practices in the world in a bid to boost the state food security.
Mr. Abdulkareem further added that his call is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari economic diversification agenda by encouraging the influx of youths into agriculture to further reduce the country’s import bills on agricultural produce and create job opportunities for the teeming population of Nigerian youths.
The institutes also said they ready to train youth in various agricultural aspects, maintaining that youths abandoned agriculture because they fail to see that it the country’s new gold.
Mr, AbdulKareem appealed to the Federal Government and Ministry of Agriculture to continue to support the institutes for further youth empowerment in the state and country at large.
