INEC begins accreditation tag distribution for Osun governorship election
The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the distribution of media accreditation tags to journalists and media organisations covering the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
The exercise began on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat along Old Ede Road, Osogbo.
In a statement, the commission said the distribution would continue from Tuesday, August 11, to Thursday, August 13, between 9am and 4pm daily at the same venue.
INEC advised media organisations that successfully completed the accreditation process to collect their tags within the stipulated period.
The commission added that organisations unable to collect their accreditation materials during the scheduled dates could do so on Friday, August 14, at the INEC Osun State Office.
It noted that Friday would be the final day for the distribution of the accreditation materials.
INEC urged all accredited media organisations to adhere to the schedule to ensure smooth and effective coverage of the governorship election.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating professional and unhindered media coverage of the poll, saying this would contribute to transparency, credibility and public confidence in the electoral process.
