Victor Osimhen was on the score sheet on Sunday as Napoli bounced back from their loss to Inter Milan last week to beat Sampdoria 2-0.
The Nigerian international scored his 10th Serie A goal at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to stay on top of the scorer’s chat.
Speaking after the game, Napoli Coach, Luciano Spalletti applauded Victor Osimhen for his performance.
“He has a way of staying on the field where he takes on all the responsibility and uses all the characteristics he needs in these games. Lately, he is paying more attention to the movements to be coordinated with the whole team.
“There are many leaders who are silent too, but this is what it’s about.”
Regarding his team performance, Spalletti added, “I saw a very mature squad that was able to think carefully in a game that could’ve become complicated if we had been too emotional in our reaction. We used our heads, the result was never in doubt.”
The win took them seven points clear at the top of Serie A, ahead of second-placed Juventus, whom they faced on Friday in what could be a season-defining game.
Meanwhile, hitting the 10th goal has also brought Osimhen to the same cadre with the likes of Legendary George Weah who also played for AC Milan in Serie A.
Osimhen equalled Weah’s ten goals in three different Serie A seasons consecutively.
The current President of Liberia achieved the feat in 1995/96, 1996/97, 1997/98 seasons respectively.
