The media aide to the president of National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Giwa Murtala Omotola has resigned over alleged abuse of office by his principal.
Giwa claimed that his resignation was due to the refusal of current leadership of students’ body to organise election for peaceful transition of power to a new administration after spending two (2) years in office.
He said, “After due consultations and considerations precedent on the level of indignation and obvious contempt with which you have treated issue relating to the tenure elongation and your refusal to start the transition process after spending two years in office, I hereby RESIGN my appointment as the Head NANS President media team.” He said in a resignation signed by him.
He noted that the refusal of the president to organise an election contradicts the provision of the constitution.
“You have totally derailed from the school of thought that unanimously supports you. We stood by you from the beginning of your sojourn. During our campaign we promised Nigerian Students that our team will only spend a year in office, you’ve betrayed our trust,” He added.
Bamidele Danielson, the president of National Association of Nigerian Students was elected in August 2018 and had been in office for two(2) years against the stipulated one-year tenure.
