In a recent development, five out of the six Al-Kadriyar sisters, who were abducted in early January from the Bwari area of Abuja, have been successfully released, shedding light on a tragic incident that has gripped the community.
The Informant247 has learned that the sisters, along with their father and other residents, were kidnapped, but their father was promptly released to facilitate the ransom negotiation.
Tragically, Nabeeha, one of the sisters, lost her life at the hands of the abductors, leading to an escalation of the ransom demand from N60 million to N100 million, accompanied by threats against the remaining sisters.
Josephine Adeh, the police public relations officer for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reported that the sisters, among other victims, were rescued by security personnel from the Kajuru forest in Kaduna state.
She said that the successful operation resulted from the collaborative efforts of the FCT Police Command Anti-Kidnapping squad and the Nigerian Army.
In a statement, Adeh said, “The operatives successfully rescued the victims around Kajuru forest in Kaduna state at about 11:30 pm on Saturday, 20th January 2024.”
She further expressed appreciation for the deployment of the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad, enhancing the security architecture of the FCT.
Amid the rising incidents of kidnappings and banditry in Abuja, the police have announced the apprehension of some kidnappers, with seized ammunition.
Minister Nyesom Wike has reassured residents of intensified efforts by security agencies to curb abductions and banditry, pledging that the perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law.
