3 vehicles, 4 motorcycles set ablaze in Ebonyi attack, authorities investigate IPOB links

Ebonyi, Nigeria – In a recent incident in Ebonyi state, unidentified armed individuals targeted and set ablaze three commuter buses, four motorcycles, and one tricycle in the Ezzamgbo area of Ohaukwu local government, along the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has been investigating the matter.

According to SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the spokesperson for the Command, the suspected perpetrators are believed to have affiliations with the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). “Fortunately, no lives were lost during the attack.”

“On Oct. 2, armed men, suspected to be IPOB/ESN members in a Sienna car, attacked commuter buses, tricycles, and motorcycles at Ezzangbo junction. They burnt down three commuter buses, four motorcycles, and one tricycle. No life was lost,” Onovwakpoyeya reported.

The police have dispatched operatives to the scene to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the incident.

The Police said that it is anticipated that the culprits will be brought to justice soon.
