Mason bagged 1 month for being caught with stolen metal ”burglary proof”
A 39-year-old mason, Kayimu Bakam, was on Friday sentenced to one month imprisonment for allegedly stealing a metal ”burglary proof”.
He sentenced by an Area Court in Jos on Friday.
Mr Daniel Damulak, who presided over the matter sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the crime and persuaded the court for mercy.
The judge granted the convict an option to pay N 5, 000 fine.
Insp Ibrahim Gowkat, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, earlier informed the court that the matter was on on September 9, brought to the awareness of the law enforcement agency at the ‘A’ Division Police station by PC Friday Idowu.
He explained that the constable brought him to the police station when he couldn’t satisfactorily explain how he got the stolen item.
The prosecutor further informed the court that during the investigation of the police, he made a confession that he purchased the burglary proof from an unknown individual.
He said the offence was in contravention of the provisions of Section 391 of the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
