The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has educated members of the public on how to stop criminal elements from invading their bank accounts and from losing their funds.
The mouthpiece of the police tweeted what to do to avoid being victims of online fraudsters.
He told Nigerians to activate locks on their Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards.
This came following the arrest of a criminal syndicate.
He said members of the syndicate will get people’s phones, remove SIM cards and assess people’s USSD.
He said they will make use of the USSD to buy airtime since it does not mandate one to input a PIN.
The criminal elements, according to the spokesperson, will then go ahead to empty their victim’s bank accounts.
