One Akanmu Waheed, 23, has been arraigned before the magistrate Court in Osogbo for allegedly breaking into the residence of one Sikiru Modinat and stealing properties that are worth N4m.
The suspect, Akanmu was arraigned on Tuesday.
He was arraigned on a four-count charge which are bordering on felony, unlawful entry and theft.
Elisha Olusegun, police prosecutor, had leveled allegation against the defendant that he committed the crime on June 5, 2022, at about 2:00am at Ibuowo Street, Okinni, Osun State.
“Akanmu Waheed on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did steal one Tecno mobile phone valued (N65,000:00k) (2) Recharge Cards valued (N135,000:00k) and (3) cash sum of two hundred and forty eight thousand naira (N248,000:00k total value (N448,700:00k) property of Sikiru Modinat.
“You, Akanmu Waheed on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did steal a cash sum of five hundred naira (N500:00k) property of Baliameen Mariam Temilade.
“You Akanmu Waheed, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did wilfully and unlawfully damage window net and door knob property of Sikiru Modinat.”
The offence contravened sections 414, 390(9) and 45 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State, Nigeria 2002.
Akanmu, hha pleaded that he’s not guilty of the charges against him.
Julius Akigbe, who’s his counsel, implored the court to grant bail to the suspect, while revealing that the criminal offences he was charged with were bailable under the Nigerian law.
A.K Ajala, the presiding Magistrate, granted the suspect bail with N500,000 and one surety in like sum.
The case has been adjourned to October 25 for hearing.
