Makinde presents staff of office to Prince Owoade as new Alaafin of Oyo
The staff of office has been presented to the new Alaafin of Oyo Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade by the state Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday in a low-key celebration.
Amid controversies over the choice of Prince Owoade, the governor made the presentation at his office in Ibadan, the state capital.
The Informant247 earlier gathered that Owoade is billed to receive his appointment letter and staff of office on Monday.
According to a Palace source, “Prince Owoade has been in Ibadan since yesterday. We anticipate he will be presented the certificate of office today, Insha Allah.”
“Though we never expected it will be urgent like this, I think it’s done in preparation for the official coronation,” he said.
Prince Akeem Owoade was appointed as the new Alaafin of Oyo on Friday by Governor Makinde.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said that Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, after thorough consultations and divinations, has been recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by the Governor of Oyo State.
Meanwhile, the Oyo kingmakers have kicked against the appointment of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade by Governor Seyi Makinde as the new Alaafin of Oyo.
