Lukman Mustapha begins donation of “relief items” to Kwarans

The Chairman, Board of Trustees, SOBI 101.9FM, Mallam Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha on Wednesday commenced the distribution of palliative package across the 16 local government area in Kwara State amidst total lockdown.

The banker cum politician popularly called Rebirth Captain, represented by the General Manager of the station, Mr. Kayode Aremu — while presenting some of the items to the Chief Imam of Sobu Community, Alh. Muhammed Soliu — appreciated the community for its support to the station since its inception, promising to be of continuous assistance to the whole community.

He said, “This gesture is in line with the Corporate Social Responsibility of the station to its host community and the society at large, adding that the materials are targeted at the vulnerable in the community, who are best-known to the traditional ruler.”

“This COVID-19 is a trying time for humanity, it is a time where we all need to be prayerful and closer to God, we also must use this opportunity to assist the less privileged towards ensuring that they don’t suffer untold hunger occasioned by the total lockdown directive by the authorities as part of measures to flatten the curve of the pandemic, which has deprived us all of going about our daily activities,” he added.

He however enjoined the traditional and religious institutions, and indeed all Kwarans to partner the relevant authorities towards adhering to safety guidelines and also help take the message of COVID-19 reality and not an hoax to all and sundry in the community.

Reacting to this, the Magaji of Sobi community, Alhaji Jamiu Amori, expressed gratitude, also promising the continued support of the community to Sobi FM to foster a robust relationship between the two entities, while also praying for an exponential progress of the Station.

He said, “We are indeed grateful to Mallam Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha for always supporting our community, he is to us like a son of this community as he has always being a partner and is a large shoulder for the community to stand on.”

He promised that the materials will be judiciously and meticulously distributed to the target audience.

Artisans, Aged, Widowers, Taxi drivers, Okada riders among others are the targeted beneficiaries of the gesture and modalities have been put in place to get the materials across to the final beneficiaries without jeopardising social distancing guidelines of the health authorities.

The relief materials include; 1000 bags of Rice, 1,000 cartons of Tomatoes puree, 1,000 cartons of groundnut oil, 500 bags of Garri, 2000 cartons of Spaghetti among other essential needed to help the less privileged living in Kwara State.
