KWEPA tasks residents on proper waste disposal
The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has asked market leaders and traders to pay attention to the proper disposal of waste.
The Agency’s General Manager, Alhaji Saad Ayuba Dan-Musa stated this while commiserating with the victims of the Ipata Market Fire Mishap that occurred on Thursday’s evening.
The Fire started late last night as a result of the artificial dumpsite, situated just beside the cattle ranch where goats were also kept, which was set on fire and later escalated and burnt cattle, goats, shops, and many valuables worth millions of naira.
Dan-Musa urged them to follow the given directives regarding proper waste disposal and evacuation, while also noting that the Agency had been coming to Ipata Market regularly to sensitize them on proper waste management, adding that it was unfortunate that such a huge loss was being recorded due to negligence.
