Kwara’s Isin, Irepodun councils commended for transformative community projects
Isin and Irepodun Local Government Councils in the Kwara South Senatorial Districts have been praised for their effective implementation of capital projects that are making a real difference in the lives of residents.
During a recent inspection, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, stated, “The ongoing monitoring is crucial for assessing the impact of these projects, and I am impressed with the quality of work so far.” He encouraged other councils to accelerate their project execution.
Bata referred to the commissioned projects as “legacy efforts” that were drawn from the direct requests of the communities. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to transparency and neutrality in the project selection process. “I commend the council leaders for prioritizing their constituents’ needs over personal interests,” he said.
In his remarks, Hon. Benjamin Lanre Jolayemi, Executive Chairman of Isin Local Government Council, emphasized, “Supporting the initiatives of our Executive Governor and addressing the basic needs of our people is paramount.” He assured communities that more projects would follow.
Hon. Abdulazeez Tinuola Yakub, Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Council, echoed similar sentiments, thanking the communities for their patience. “We appreciate the Commissioner and his team for their thorough inspection. We are committed to completing all ongoing projects to specifications before starting new ones,” he affirmed.
The projects highlighted in Isin included the commissioning of five lock-up shops at Edidi and the construction of a new office for the Directorate of State Security Services. In Irepodun, significant projects featured the renovation of the police clinic in Omu – Aran and the construction of drainage systems.
