The organiser of The Kwara Unsung Heroes’ Award has described the event as an avenue to appreciate individuals’ sacrifice and commitment to the community development.
Speaking on the event, a community development practitioner, Mr. Lawal Olohungbebe said the motive for the event is not to tarnish the image of any individual or institution in Kwara State but to promote work ethics among all Kwarans in all walks of life.
According to Olohungbebe: “We are looking beyond fault finding, all we care about is contributing our quota to the development of the society in our own little way. We merely brought his sacrifice to the world and people from all walks of life contributed to honour and appreciate this unsung hero.
“If we can’t honour and appreciate a man who has sacrificed himself, his personal comfort for the future of this small kids, I wonder who deserves to be honoured, not many people can do what this man has done”.
Mr. Olohungbebe, who thanked all the philanthropists and business entities for their contributions towards the success of the unsung hero award, said that the role of individuals in community development cannot be overemphasised.
He therefore called on all well meaning Kwarans to be more committed towards community development in their areas.
