Emmanuel Ogbole’s goal in the 15th minutes of was all redemption seeking Kwara United needed to secure a hard fought victory over the visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure in the NPFL matchday 19 played on Saturday.
The victory signaled a relief for the Harmony boys who lost 2-0 to Lobi Stars in the last home game.
Ilorin fans were irked with the results against Lobi, a situation that later saw the management bolstered the team’s Technical crew with the appointment of Tunde Sanni as the Chief Coach
The reshufflement in the technical crew and the introduction of their former player, Afeez Nosiru to the middle of the park breathed some fresh air into the team as they waxed against a strong side of the Akure landlord.
It was a brilliant start for Kwara United in the game and flashes of their promising effort later culminated in Samuel Ayanrinde dragging his way into the box and set up a pass for Emmanuel Ogbole to score his first goal for the Harmony boys .
The home team increased their upsurge but the lack clinical finish upfront denied them some shot at goal.
The intervening minutes also had the visitors trying their luck at goal- efforts that were met with resistance from United’s defense.
With the victory, Kwara United has now moved to 13th on the log with 22 points while Sunshine Stars occupy 12th with the same points.
Kwara United will on Thursday face Heartland FC of Owerri away from home to play their matchday 18 outstanding game to round up their first round of the campaign.
