Kwara to hold monthly sanitation exercise June 27
The Kwara State Government has announced that the June edition of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. across the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge.
According to the statement, residents are required to fully participate in the exercise, during which movement of vehicles and persons will be restricted across all local government areas.
The commissioner said waste management trucks would be deployed for the collection and proper disposal of refuse at government-approved dump sites.
She added that security agencies and environmental officers have been mobilised to enforce compliance, noting that offenders would be apprehended and prosecuted at designated mobile courts.
Residents were also warned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse on pedestrian walkways, roadsides, drainage channels, canals, and other unauthorised locations, stressing that such acts are punishable under the state’s environmental laws.
The government urged residents to take advantage of the exercise to clear overgrown vegetation and clean their homes, business premises, and drainage systems to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
