Kwara State fire service contains fire outbreak in Ilorin
The Kwara State fire service has been able to contain a fire outbreak from causing havoc in Ilorin.
According to a statement signed by PFO Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, Head, Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, the fire occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
It said “In the early hours of Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 02:39 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service promptly responded to a fire outbreak at Adeta Roundabout, Ilorin.
“Upon arrival, they found a block of about 25 shops engulfed in flames. Thanks to the swift action and bravery of the Kwara State Fire Service officers, only three shops suffered damage, including a soft drinks and alcohol shop.
It noted that the preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a power surge.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service however expressed sympathy for the affected shop owners, offering prayers for restoration of their losses. He also urged the public to prioritize safety and ensure all electrical appliances are unplugged when not in use
