14 filling stations in Oron, Akwa Ibom State have been closed down by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
This came following an allegation that the filling stations were selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved price.
Mr Joy Koro, who led the team of the agency, Distribution Systems Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, made this revelation to newsmen at Oron on Saturday.
“We sealed 14 filling stations selling PMS between N400 per litre and 450 per litre at Oron, Akwa Ibom,” he said.
Koro added that the affected filling stations are due for sanctions.
He has sent message of warning to marketers to stop selling petroleum products above the regulated pump price.
“If you see any marketer selling above the regulated price, that filling station will definitely be shut.
“There are enough petroleum products for marketers to lift to their stations.
“The marketers know the approved pump price; if we carry out surveillance and see them selling at the regulated price, we will not seal their filling stations,” he said.
