Former Kwara State Commissioner, Arinola Lawal has sent her appeal to the striking lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to cease its ongoing industrial action and proceed back to the classroom.
The former Commissioner for Water Resources in the state, and an aspirant of the Kwara State House of Assembly had described the education sector as the life wire of the nation, and therefore pleaded with aggrieved lecturers to subscribe to dialogue with the federal government.
The daughter of the former Kwara State Governor, Muhammed Lawal also mentioned that the students are future leaders and deserve to enjoy their rights to quality and undisturbed education.
“Education is very important, students should be in school, I want to appeal to ASUU to end the strike and instead have a round table discussion.”
Recall that the aspirant of the Kwara State House of Assembly has during the week paid visits to twelve wards in the Ilorin East Local Government Area to solicit their supports ahead of the primary election in the All Progressives Party, APC.
Visited wards are Magaaji Are 1, Magaaji Are Ward 2, Gambari Ward 1, Gambari Ward 2, Sango Ward, Ibagun Ward, Oke-oyi, Oke-Ose/Alalubosa, Maya Ile Apa, Agbeyangi Gbadamu Ward, Apado Ward, Apado Ward, Marafa Pepele ward.
