Kwara signs MoU with UNFPA to enhance access to reproductive, adolescent health services

The Kwara State Government, through its Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, has announced significant strides in its planning and economic growth initiatives, asserting that its proactive approach has facilitated the development of an effective budget for the fiscal year.

At the 1st quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Finance in Ilorin, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Arinde, the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, detailed the Ministry’s responsibilities in planning, evaluating, and monitoring state projects.

She announced that the state had successfully signed an agreement with the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) to enhance access to reproductive and adolescent health services.

Dr. Arinde stated, “The State Government recorded a smooth budget planning process through the unrelenting efforts of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.”

The Commissioner also highlighted the Ministry’s focus on maintaining inter-ministerial relationships to streamline data collection and uphold a reliable database regarding contractual obligations and pension arrears.

Moreover, Dr. Arinde revealed that the Ministry conducted a harmonization exercise between the Directorate of Debt Management and the Main Account of the Office of the Accountant General to ensure accuracy in the financial statements for the year 2024.
