Kwara poly to charge ₦2,000 monthly for unclaimed certificates from January
The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has announced a ₦2,000 monthly charge for certificates left unclaimed from January 1, 2027.
The institution issued a final notice to graduands and alumni whose certificates have remained uncollected, urging them to retrieve the documents before the December 31, 2026 deadline.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Examinations and Records Division, Saka Eletu, on behalf of the Acting Registrar, the polytechnic said many certificates belonging to former students who had completed their programmes were still in its custody.
The statement noted that the certificates were important for employment, further studies, professional advancement and other official engagements.
It urged affected graduates to collect their Diploma, Higher Diploma, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) certificates at the Examinations and Records Division during official working hours.
“ With effect from 1st January, 2027, any certificate that remains unclaimed will attract a demurrage charge of ₦2,000.00 (Two Thousand Naira) per month,” the statement said.
The institution said graduates seeking to collect their certificates must present their original statements of result, valid means of identification and evidence of payment for the certificate.
It advised concerned graduands and alumni to take advantage of the grace period to avoid the additional charge.
