The Kwara chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS, has elected Comrade Salami Wasiu, a student of the University of Ilorin as it chairman.
Also, Hassan Ridwan of the Kwara State Polytechnics was elected as the General Secretary amongst others.
Salami, a former SUG President of the Kwara State College of Education Oro, succeded Olosasa Saheed.
In the election that was held at the NUJ Secretariat, Salami, from University of Ilorin, was declared winner after an unopposed election.
Other newly elected officials are: Babatunde Isiaq of Kwara State University as Vice chairman (admin), Taiwo John of the Kwara State University was elected General Secretary.
The posts of PRO and financial secretary went to Taiwo John of Kwara State Polythecnics and Adigun Olamilekan of Kwara State University respectively
The newly elected chairman in his acceptance speech described the election as free, fair and credible with no records of violence.
He said, “Today marks another indomitable kickoff in the history of NANS Kwara as baton of leadership is about to change paddle.
“Today’s election shows the decency in NANS Kwara, no casaulity was recorded, and the election was free, fair and credible,” Salami told THE INFORMANT247 after the election.
“It’s a pleasure that I was announced as the Chairman-elect, the expectations of Nigerian students are high, hence I express my commitment to be an engaging NANS/JCC Chairman that will work for the interest of the students.”
