Kwara LG Chair declares 24-hour curfew over insecurity

The Executive Chairman of Edu Local Government Council area in Kwara State, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, has announced a 24-hour curfew on Gbugbu community, including the popular market.

This was contained in a statement by the Edu LGA Council Media Team and Communications Strategic Unit released on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the curfew is effective from 6p.m. on Tuesday January 27, 2026.

“The curfew is part of the measures to protect lives and property in the area as security forces continue their operation in areas of interest,” the statement said.

“This means human and vehicular movement is prohibited in the area under curfew. This is a security decision. Further reviews will be communicated.”

The Informant247 reports that security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping and terrosism has affected a larger part of the north and southern part of Kwara State, even as government also continues to launch series of efforts to neutralise the activities of the non-state actors and restore peace to the affected communities.
