Kwara Justice Ministry staff celebrate Attorney General’s elevation to SAN
Staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Justice have expressed excitement over the elevation of the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman, to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The elevation by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee has been described by officials of the ministry as a recognition of Sulyman’s contributions to the legal profession, particularly in the area of public interest law and justice sector reforms.
Reacting to the development, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Barrister Sabitiyu Kikelomo Grillo, congratulated the Attorney General, describing the honour as well deserved and a testament to his commitment to the development of law.
Grillo said the achievement also reflected the conducive environment created by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the speedy dispensation of justice in the state.
She noted that the state government had continued to rely on Sulyman’s legal expertise and advice in governance, adding that he had introduced far-reaching reforms in the ministry and the state’s justice delivery system.
“The state government has strongly relied on the Attorney General’s expertise and legal advice in the governance of the state. I am also aware of the far-reaching reforms introduced by the Attorney General in the ministry and the ministry’s justice delivery system,” she said.
Grillo added that the recognition reflected the combined efforts of the ministry and the state government in advancing justice sector reforms.
“I am excited and proud to observe that our joint efforts and the support of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to the ministry’s justice reforms have been recognised at the highest level in Nigeria with the elevation of the state Commissioner for Justice,” she said.
She urged Sulyman to regard the elevation as a call to greater responsibility, particularly in protecting the rights of ordinary citizens and ensuring that the ministry continues to respond to the changing demands of law and justice delivery.
The Permanent Secretary expressed confidence in his ability to justify the honour, describing him as a highly accomplished legal practitioner whose elevation was merited.
Also reacting, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mohammed Ayoola Akande, described the elevation as a deserved honour, saying it did not come as a surprise given Sulyman’s ambition and standing in the legal profession.
Akande said the rank was a testament to the Attorney General’s legal expertise, integrity and dedication to justice, describing the achievement as another milestone for the ministry.
The Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Adegboyega Ayeni, also congratulated Sulyman, describing him as a distinguished legal practitioner whose elevation reflected his expertise and intellectual rigour.
Ayeni wished the Attorney General greater wisdom and continued success in his legal career.
