Kwara govt trains fisheries officers on Aquaculture Technology

The Kwara State Government is holding a 2-day training workshop for fisheries officers on Aquaculture Technology.

The workshop is aimed at broadening the knowledge of fisheries officers in modern fishing technology with a view to replicating the acquired skills to the farmers and other stakeholders in aquaculture value-chain production.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the workshop, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon identified training and retraining of Civil Servants as catalysts for effective service delivery in the Civil Service system.

Hon. Gideon said the fisheries sub-sector is one of the sectors the State Government is vigorously pursuing to transform from mere providing food for the populace to generating income for the government and increasing the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The State Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole commended the organizers and assured the Ministry of government support in its drive to make the state the food hub of the country.

Mrs. Oluwole, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Training, Alh. Boni Shuaib further encouraged other Ministries to emulate the State Ministry of Agriculture in organising refresher training for their staff in order to enhance their productivity.
