Kwara govt partners NCFRMI on action plans to enhance productivity
The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs has partnered with the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Person (NCFRMI) on its Action Plans in order to enhance productivity and effectiveness of the activities in the state.
Hon. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, the state commissioner for Women Affairs, made this known this on Wednesday when the Zonal Coordinator, National Commission for Refugees Migrants and lnternally Displaced Persons, Alhaji Bashir Yusuf, presented the Action Plans in her office .
Afolashade reiterated the state government’s readiness to study the action plans so as to enhance efficiency, noting that the state government will not renege in its efforts to create a conducive environment for all residents in Kwara State.
The commissioner, however, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for collaborating with Agencies that could bring meaningful projects to the state and assured the Commission that the action plans would be escalated appropriately for prompt attention, promising that the State Government would not leave any stone unturned in order to fulfill the action plans.
Earlier in his remarks, the Zonal Coordinator, National Commission for Refugees Migrants and lnternally Displaced Persons, Alhaji Bashir Yusuf, said the responsibility of the Committee is to create public awareness on regular, safe and secure migration; to keep abreast of movement and activities of migrants; and to join hands with NCFRMI and its partners on migrants return and resettlement.
Alhaji Yusuf said Kwara State Migration Reintegration Committee is expected to be constituted with the State Governor as the Chairman but housed in Ministry of Women Affairs, the Committee Secretary would be from NCFRMI, the Public Relations Officer will be from the Civil Society Network on Migration and Development (CSONetMADE), other relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies and Federal Government Agencies in the state are to be members, among others.
He explained further that the Human Rights Commission (HRC), National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and all other Agencies that their mandates cover migrants should also be included.
