The Kwara State Government, through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), has flagged off the renovation of three additional Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) in Ilorin, the state capital.

At the flag-off ceremony, Dr Elelu directed the contractors to commence work on the three health facilities immediately.

Dr Elelu, represented by the Director Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mr Ajide Olayioye, described these health facilities as another landmark intervention and a massive win for the State Government by bringing health care services closer to the people at the grassroots.

The facilities are Adana PHC (Kaiama Local Government Area), Budo Egba PHC (Asa Local Government Area), and Oke-Onigbin PHC (Isin Local Government Area).

She noted that this initiative is a critical component of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving Primary Health Care facilities in Nigeria through the BHCPF, stressing that it aligns with the strategic blueprint and reflects the dedication of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu and the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to enhance health care services in Kwara State as well as shows the crucial roles of these facilities to improving health outcomes and community well-being.

Dr Elelu appreciated the governor for prioritising the health sector and for his untiring efforts at ensuring that Kwarans have access to quality and affordable healthcare services, irrespective of their geographical locations, while urging community members to make the best use of the upgraded facilities once completed and encouraged them to patronise the PHCs in their communities, emphasising the importance of the increase in health care subscriptions at the primary level.

The Executive Secretary pointed out the employment opportunities that would be created for members by these facilities while calling on community leaders and members to take ownership and support the health centres.

In his response, the Onigbin of Oke-Onigbin, Oba Kamaldeen Salawudeen, expressed his commitment to ensuring quality delivery in the rehabilitation process. He assured the Contractor of the community’s support throughout the project.
