Kwara govt donates wheelchairs to cerebral paalsy patients in Ilorin
The Kwara State Government has donated two wheelchairs to persons living with cerebral palsy as part of efforts to strengthen support for vulnerable groups.
The Commissioner for Social Development, Mariam Nnafatima Imam, presented the items on Monday at the Ministry’s premises in Ilorin.
The gesture followed the Ministry’s participation in the Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative Family Forum held on May 2, where it pledged support for individuals living with the condition and their families.
Imam described the forum as an inspiring platform that offered the Ministry an opportunity to engage directly with caregivers and advocates.
She said their experiences highlighted the need for sustained government intervention and inclusive policies.
She noted that the voices and resilience of people living with cerebral palsy continue to drive the government’s commitment to inclusion, adding that the administration is focused on ensuring that vulnerable citizens receive the support they need.
The commissioner said the donation reflects the Ministry’s resolve to provide practical assistance that improves daily living conditions for beneficiaries.
In her response, the founder of the Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative, Ifeoluwa Aderonke, thanked the state government for what she described as a timely intervention.
Aderonke said the wheelchairs would ease mobility challenges for the beneficiaries and provide much needed relief for their families, while also encouraging continued collaboration between the government and advocacy groups.
