Kwara govt commits to settling unpaid promotion arrears

The Kwara State Government has pledged to clear one-year promotion arrears for all worker categories within the state, along with addressing outstanding arrears for local government and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) employees.

This decision emerged from the ongoing discussions between the state government and labor leaders.

In an announcement to Radio Nigeria in Ilorin, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kwara State, Muritala Olayinka, revealed these positive developments.

Additionally, the state government has granted approval for a full payment of CONHESS and hazard allowance to health workers at the local government level. Teachers are also set to receive incentives for working five days a week during the period of fuel subsidy removal.

Comrade Olayinka outlined further agreements achieved during the negotiations, including the implementation of CONPASS and CONTEDISS for tertiary institutions. The government has also committed to disbursing the 2020 furniture allowance and the 2023 annual conference allowance for the council.

He emphasized that discussions between the government and labor representatives are ongoing, underscoring their commitment to the welfare of workers in the state.
