Kwara govt affirms support for mining business to boost economy

Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Solid Minerals, has assured relevant stakeholders in the mining business and solid Minerals Sector of enabling environment and enhanced collaboration in the overall interest of the State.

Dr Afeez Abolore Alabi, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, while giving assurance when receiving members of the Mineral Resources and Environment Management Committee (MIREMCO), who paid him a courtesy visit in his office earlier this week, emphasised the readiness of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration to transform the state into investors haven state.

Alabi, however, charged the relevant stakeholders in mining practices and other solid minerals-related activities with robust collaboration that would further enhance their business.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Solid Minerals, TPL Yinka Olokooba, assured the visiting team of the government’s support and readiness to take mining activities to greater heights.

The team led by the Committee on MIREMCO, and a Mines Officer, Engr Lamidi Maruf, highlighted numerous benefits of identifying with the ministry, one of which is to propel their work for adequate community growth and Kwarans at large.

He appealed to the Commissioner to facilitate government presence in rural areas where mining activities occur, which he said could generate revenue for the state.
