PengChao Zhang, the Chinese national who was abducted penultimate Sunday around Eyenkorin in Kwara State, has regained his freedom, the Kwara State police command has said.
The Informant247 reports that PengChao, also known as Williams Kaka among his business associates, was abducted by six armed after invading Cherish Guest House, an isolated facility on the outskirts of Ilorin.
According to reports, the victim, a former employee of Erkang Quarry, was released by his abductors after the payment of an undisclosed amount of ransom.
A source who was privy to the development said Zhang was “rescued” in conjunction with some operatives guiding a company (name withheld) located close to Afon forest.
When contacted, the state Police spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), confirmed the release, adding that the abducted Chinese expatriate was rescued in the early hours of Tuesday.
“Through diligent and coordinated efforts, the command’s tactical teams and vigilantes executed a series of strategic search and investigations leading to the safe rescue of the victim in the early hours of 19th March 2024.
“The command is pleased to confirm that the victim has since been reunited with his family unharmed.
“This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state,” she added.
