The Kwara Football Academy (KFA) under the leadership of its administrator, Mallam Jimoh Kehinde held its annual award and dinner night at the academy’s hall on the 1st day of December, 2019. The event had in attendance Mallam Idris Turaya, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Coach Paul who represented Kebbi Football Association, Mallam Jimoh Bashir, the Chairman of Sport Writers Association, amongst other dignitaries such as the representative of the Kwara United Chairman.
Amongst the awardees at the event was Coach Ladi Ojokolo who won the coach of the year and overall best staff of the year award, Modupe Adeniyi who won the staff of the year, Godwin Osagbemi won the best under-15 award and the player of the season, Robiu Sanni a.k.a katapa won the senior player of the year with 20 goals in 26 matches, Kolo Samson won the best goal keeper of the season.
Whilst listing the achievements of of Kwara Football Academy, Mr. Bayo Issa popularly known as Mr. Sports, stated that the academy hosted over 33 tournaments in 2019 which includes the JAMB tertiary institutions football tournament, Kwara State League, AGF Abdulrazaq tournament, amongst others. He also stated that the team won a treble which includes the Secondary school football challenge, AGF Abdulrazaq tournament, and the YSFON U-14 tournament in Ibadan.
He also applauded the academy for the continuous maintenance of facilities despite the paucity of resources, and also commended the students of the academy for having a record 100% success in NECO 2019 exams. He added that six (6) players moved to various cadre of the Nigeria league 2019 and two (2) players made it to Europe for trial in person of Habeeb Adetunji with Swedish and IK with Sirius FC.
