Kwara employs former Children’s Reception Centre beneficiary

The Kwara State Government has employed a former beneficiary of the Children’s Reception Centre (CRC), Bukola Alake Toyin, as an Assistant Education Officer (Special Needs) after supporting her education from primary school through tertiary level.

Alake, who spent part of her childhood under the care and protection of the state, was appointed in recognition of her academic achievement and resilience, according to the Ministry of Social Development.

She paid a thank-you visit to the Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Mariam Nnafatima Imam, on Tuesday to express her appreciation to the state government for supporting her education and securing her appointment.

Imam described Alake’s journey from institutional care to professional employment as an example of how sustained support and education can help vulnerable children become self-reliant and productive members of society.

The commissioner said the state had supported Alake’s education through sponsorship and other interventions, enabling her to progress from primary school to tertiary education.

She said the new appointment would also allow Alake to contribute to the state’s development, particularly through her role in special needs education.

Imam said the Ministry of Social Development would continue to implement programmes aimed at protecting vulnerable children, promoting inclusion and supporting persons with special needs.

Speaking during the visit, Alake expressed gratitude to the state government for the support she received throughout her educational journey.

She said her new position would give her an opportunity to give back to society and support other vulnerable children, particularly in education and wellbeing.
