Kwara to rehabilitate Tsaragi Cottage Hospital, provide modern equipment
The Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB) has identified infrastructure rehabilitation, modern medical equipment and digitalisation as priority areas for intervention at the Tsaragi Cottage Hospital in Edu Local Government Area.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, disclosed this during a working visit to the palace of the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotum, where the Board engaged the traditional institution, community leaders and youths on healthcare delivery.
The visit also included an inspection of the cottage hospital to assess its infrastructure, equipment, staffing and capacity to provide services to residents of Tsaragi and neighbouring communities.
Malik said the planned interventions were part of efforts to strengthen secondary healthcare facilities across the state and improve access to quality medical services.
“We are committed to ensuring that our health facilities are adequately staffed and properly equipped to provide the quality healthcare services envisaged by this administration,” he said.
He said improving the facility would help strengthen patient care and reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to access medical treatment.
The KW-HMB executive secretary also urged residents of Tsaragi and neighbouring communities to patronise the cottage hospital, saying increased utilisation of the facility would support its sustainability and encourage further investment.
The Etsu Tsaragi commended the Board for the visit and the state government’s efforts to improve the cottage hospital and other healthcare facilities across Kwara.
He assured the Board of the traditional institution’s support, particularly in encouraging residents to use the hospital’s services.
The Director of Medical Services, KW-HMB, Dr Femi Joseph, also thanked the traditional ruler for his support and assurances of cooperation with the Board.
