The governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has pointed out that the state is blessed with fertile soil and mineral resources that can attract foreign and local investors, urging the National Assembly to put laws in place to improve the production of basic needs of the country as well as checkmate Nigeria’s overdependence on imported goods.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi, said this on Wednesday while receiving the House of Representatives Committee on Industry and members of the National Sugar Development Council in his office.
He assured that all issues raised by the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) would be fully resolved, pledging the state government’s cooperation with the sugar industry.
Speaking earlier, the chairman House Committee on Industry, Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru, said the committee is in Kwara to perform some oversight functions. He emphasised the critical role Kwara state is playing in sugar production in Nigeria.
