Kwara approves 2021 promotion for SUBEB teachers

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has approved 2021 promotion for teachers under Universal Basic Education Board in the state.

The Informant247 Nigeria News learns that the Executive Chairman of the Board, Prof. Abdulraheem Adaramaja announced this today while addressing newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday.

Prof. Adaramaja said the promotion examination for qualified teachers would hold on the 9th of April.

He said the 2021 promotion is in addition to the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 promotion exercises under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

The Executive Chairman noted that he met total dilapidated structure at levels of basic education, demoralised workforce with instalment payment of salaries and outstanding 345 per cent salaries on the assumption of office.

Professor Adaramaja confirmed that efforts have been intensified by his leadership to right the wrong of the past.

On SUBEB counterparts funding, the Executive Chairman maintained that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq paid N450 million backlog counterpart fund to access N14.2 billion from Universal Basic Education Commission.

He explained that Kwara State has now been expunged from the UBEC blacklist of SUBEB counterpart funding.

Professor Adaramaja recalled that the state was blacklisted in 2013 owing to the failure of the immediate past administration to pay the counterpart fund.

The SUBEB boss asserted that his leadership has broken the dichotomy of the SUBEB-UBEC servant relationship as both education funding windows now contribute 50 per cent each to improve basic education in the state

He lamented that the 2013 UBEC counterparts fund was diverted by the previous administration.

School Rehabilitation

The SUBEB leader disclosed that 116 classrooms are being built, together with the remodelling of existing schools.

He said construction of 78 VIP toilets and 89 Boreholes are also being executed by Kwara SUBEB in the nooks and crannies of the state to elementary education in the state.

The don also stated that Digital Literacy Centres are to be established in 39 locations across the state to improve the quality of education

The Chairman said 29,000 furniture are to be purchased to accommodate 60,000 pupils as well as distribution of instructional materials to schools.

He elucidated that Teachers Professional Development Programmes are being put in place to build the capacity of teachers across the state.
