Kidnappers demand N50m to release A’Ibom school principal

The kidnapers of the principal of Madonna Community Secondary school in Oruk Anam local government area of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Monday Ekoriko have requested N50 million ransom.

The Principal was abducted last Saturday at his country home Udianga Enem village in Etim Ekpo local government area of the state.

He was abducted during a church service at United Evangelical Church (UEC).

It was gathered that the kidnappers have reached out to the principal’s family and requested N50million to release him.

It was gathered that the abductors have issued threat to kill the kidnapped principal if the money demanded is not provided within the required time frame.

The eldest son of the kidnapped principal, Menyene, said: ” They (the hoodlums) called me on phone and the number was hidden, saying we should hurriedly arrange N50 million before my father could be released”.

“The discussion was so brief and sharp with the threat that some people have paid for my father to be killed, that only a higher amount would safe him”, Menyene said, adding that his father’s Lexus SUV the kidnappers used in whisking him away, had been recovered abandoned at the Ekparakwa axis of Oruk Anam LGA.”

Comrade Udeme John, the community youths’ leader, has referred to the incident as a sad one and implored the Police and other security agencies to put more efforts, to facilitate the freedom of the principal alive and unharmed.

The spokesperson of the Police in the state, Mr. Odiko Macdon, a Superintendent of Police (SP), has confirmed that the SUV of the teacher has been recovered.

He has assured that “operatives of the Command are closing in on the criminal elements.

“We can confirm the recovery of the car, the Police have nothing to do with ransom but I can assure you that very soon the hoodlums will be apprehended and brought to justice because the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olatoye Durosinmi, who is personally directing the operation has zero tolerance for crimes”, he assured.
